Sheffield & District Closed Senior Tournament 2026 — Mid-Tournament UpdateBeauchief Tennis Club, Wednesday 10 June 2026

The Sheffield & District Closed Senior Tournament reaches its halfway point this evening at Beauchief Tennis Club, with ten matches scheduled across two sessions as the draws begin to take serious shape.

Mens Singles: Tordoff and Jinks into the semis

The men's singles has gone largely with the seedings, but not without drama. Top seed Conor Tordoff has been in commanding form, dropping just five games across his three matches. A 6-0 6-0 victory over Hassaan Nasir set up a quarter-final meeting with Daniel Carnie, which Tordoff won 6-3 6-2 to book his semi-final place. Third seed Alex Jinks has been equally impressive, defeating Thomas Wright 6-2 7-5 before accounting for Adam Pyatt-Coppell 6-2 6-3 in the quarter-finals. Bailey Cole [2] survived a testing three-setter against Oliver Gilmore on Day 1 (4-6 7-6 10-7) before edging out Thomas Everest Wilcock 6-2 4-6 10-8 in the quarter-finals. Unseeded Matteo Aldag Caparrelli has been one of the stories of the draw so far, but his run came to an end at the quarter-final stage, falling 3-6 7-6 10-5 to fourth seed Josh Bows, who advances to the semi-finals.

Womens Singles: Brian battles through

The women's singles draw has been building nicely through the opening three days. Second seed Stella Brian has shown real resilience to reach the semi-finals, coming through a tight three-set contest against Ellen Plaskitt 6-2 3-6 10 -8 in a match that could have gone either way in the decider. Lydia Drabble has also made her mark, accounting for Emily Ryde 6-1 6-4 in the quarter-finals to join Brian in the last four. With the top half of the draw yet to complete their semi-final ties, the women's singles is poised to deliver some compelling tennis over the coming days.
