Day 6 - Semi Finals Update

Sheffield & District Closed Senior Tournament 2026 — Day 6 Match Report Beauchief Tennis Club, Friday 12 June 2026

A glorious evening of tennis at Beauchief saw the semi-finals largely settled across multiple events, setting up what promises to be a thrilling Finals Day on Saturday. With ten matches completed and one suspended due to fading light, the draws are now in shape for the weekend.

Men’s Singles

The men's singles semi-finals threw up contrasting stories. Bailey Cole [2] received a walkover from Josh Bows to advance to the final without hitting a ball. The other semi-final between top seed Conor Tordoff and third seed Alex Jinks was the pick of the evening's tennis but became the victim of the dwindling daylight. After a competitive first set, play had to be suspended due to light, with the players agreeing to resume the second set from 12:00 today, Saturday. With the men's singles final scheduled for 15:45, the winner will have very little turnaround time before they are back on court for the title match.

Men’s Doubles

Top seeds Alex Jinks and Conor Tordoff produced a dominant performance to reach the final, beating Alexander Partner and Adam Pyatt-Coppell 6-1 6-2 in a comfortable semi-final. They'll meet second seeds Thomas Everest Wilcock and Aidan Robson in the final after Wilcock and Robson came through a thrilling three-set battle against third seeds Daniel Carnie and Charlie Parfett. Carnie and Parfett took the first set 6-3, but Wilcock and Robson levelled by edging the second 7-5 before going on to win the match tiebreak 10-4 to set up the final.

Women’s Doubles

Top seeds Jess Holtum and Louise Holtum made a statement of intent ahead of Saturday's final, sweeping past Sarah Everest-Ford and Helen Hirst 6-0 6-0 in a commanding semi-final performance. The Holtums will face Charlotte King [2] and Ellen Plaskitt in what promises to be an excellent final.

Mixed Doubles

Both mixed doubles semi-finals went to seed. Top seeds Conor Tordoff and Chloe Gallagher were in fine form to beat Josh Bows and Ellen Plaskitt 6-3 6-3, and second seeds Jason Oldham and Louise Holtum followed up with a 6-2 6-4 win over third seeds Aidan Robson and Jane Manson. The all-seeds final on Saturday should be a real highlight of the day.

XD 40+

Top seeds Dave Mangham and Jayne Hale eased into the final with a 7-6 6-2 win over Russell Bluff and Jennifer Lewis. The other semi-final produced the match of the night, with second seeds Alasdair and Sarah Everest-Ford coming from a set down to beat Christopher Moran and Vicky Johnson 5-7 6-1 10-8 in a dramatic match tiebreak. The Everest-Fords now face Mangham and Hale in what should be a closely contested final.

MS 45+

Second seed John Clephan booked his place in the Men's Singles 45+ final with a convincing 6-1 6-2 win over fourth seed Russell Bluff. He'll face top seed Daniel Carnie in the final, with Carnie having looked impressive throughout the week.

XD Handicap

Richard and Phoebe Lockham produced one of the performances of the night to reach the XD Handicap final, coming through a gripping three-set battle against Jack Horgan and Louise Moglia 3-6 6-2 7-6. They'll face John Cundall and Beth Watson in the final.
