John Holmes - our new league secretary

As many of you will know, we have been in search of a new league secretary for many months and were delighted when John stepped forward to take on the challenge!
John has been playing tennis for nearly 40 years.  He learned to play on the courts near the windy cliff-tops in Whitby, which may explain why he still can't time his shots.  He started playing league tennis as a teenager and went on to play in various places around Yorkshire.  After moving to Sheffield in 2012, he joined Grove Tennis Club and, except for a brief spell at Hallamshire, has been playing S&D matches there ever since.  When he's not playing tennis, he's a Professor at the University of Sheffield and you may occasionally hear him talking about alcohol on the news.
